Going in order...
#1The Rocky Horror Picture Show
I... I can't even. If I had to give someone who plans to watch this movie any advice... it would be to not even TRY to understand it. Just go with it. xD
I want Tim Curry to be my father, and my uncle, and my cousin, and my brother.
Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Richard O'Brien, Patricia Quinn, Nell Campbell
This movie is basically where I got my love of mob/mafia things from. But it's not even full of car chases and shoot-outs. It's basically a mafia boss who promises his dying father to go straight, but a whole whirlwind of events messes him up.
In other words: it's just a clusterfuck. I love it.
Actors: Sylvester Stallone, Don Ameche, Ornella Muti, TIM CURRY!, Vincent Spano, Marisa Tomei
#3O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Three prisoners escape the chain gang, lead by the dapper Everett McGill who's only trying to get back home to his girls. Together they become internationally famous, escape the bounty hunters, and even get in a tangle with some sirens and the KKK.
Actors: George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, Charles Durning
My mom hates this movie, but it's just so damn fun.
Actors: Alex Baldwin, Geena Davis, Annie McEnroe, Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones, Winona Ryder
#5The Lord of the Rings
I love all three movies equally, but I decided on the first one to show that way you all start from the beginning
Actors: Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Ian Holm, Ian McKellen
#6Jumpin' Jack Flash
God it's been a long time since I've seen this. But basically it's a lady named Terry Dolittle who works in New York City who picks up a cry for help by a man who signs off as "Jumpin' Jack Flash". After figuring out his code, she discovers he's a British agent trapped in Russia. She's pursued by the CIA, the KGB, and other law enforcement agencies as she works to help him. My little description doesn't do this movie justice; it was actually pretty good. C:
Actors: Whoopi Goldberg, Stephen Collins, John Wood, Carol Kane, Annie Potts, Jeroen Krabbé
#7Stand By Me
Four friends set out to find the body of a local missing teen who's presumed dead. As the older town bullies follow on their trail, it becomes a race to see who finds the kid first. Complete with a famous running-for-your-lives-from-a-train scene! 8D
Actors: Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, Casey Seimaszko, Gary Riley
#8A Series of Unfortunate Events
Three once wealthy orphans, Klaus, Violet, and baby Sunny are sent from one relative to another, all the while evading the nefarious Count Olaf who plans to marry Violet to inherit the family's fortune. Using Violet's inventions, Klaus's smarts, and Sunny's... biting ability, the three escape near-death situations until they finally unmask Olaf for who he really is.
Actors: Jim Carrey, Emily Browning, Liam Aiken, Timothy Spall, Catherine O'Hara, Billy Connolly, Meryl Streep
This is actually an animated movie instead of one with real actors. Set in Tokyo, three homeless persons--Gin, a drunkard, Hana, a homosexual, and Miyuki, a teenage runaway--find an abandoned baby on Christmas Eve in a trash heap, left with nothing but a note and a key. Using what little clues they have, the three and the baby--newly dubbed as Kiyoko--set out to find the baby's parents. In a turn of events, they find that she was really stolen from the hospital, and end up touching more lives than one.
Voice actors: Toru Emori, Aya Okamoto, Yoshiaki Umegaki
